Bubba and Ellie were in trouble.
Cold had settled over the water with a terrible swiftness. In a series of circumstances that have plagued polar explorers since the The Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, ice was creeping in all around them, and food was in short supply.
Luckily for Bubba and Ellie, they aren’t polar explorers. They’re swans at Lake Junaluska. And they’ve got something much better than a rescue party. They’ve got Jackie Dingus on their side.
